Basil Plastiras has over 30 years of experience as a trial attorney, expert witness, mediator, arbitrator, and real estate broker. In his legal practice, Basil focuses on general civil actions, with emphasis on attorney liability actions and commercial and real estate litigation. He has taken more than 100 cases to trial, with 17 defense verdicts in legal malpractice cases and no plaintiff verdicts. His has had equal success in his representation of plaintiffs, having won numerous six- and seven-figure verdicts and punitive damages. Prior to founding Plastiras & Terrizzi, Basil was an associate with Walker, Andreas and Anderson, in San Francisco, where he practiced in the financial district, focusing on civil litigation and professional and commercial liability. A licensed real estate broker, Basil has extensive experience with real estate investments and related matters. He was one of two founding partners of Orion Commercial Real Estate Services, the largest commercial real estate brokerage in the San Francisco North Bay. He is the current CEO and President of Parkway Properties Investment Corporation, a commercial real estate company which owns and manages over 375,000 square feet of retail office and real estate projects throughout the Bay Area. Basil has been active in the State Bar, San Francisco Bar and Marin Bar Associations. He has been appointed by the San Francisco Superior Court as an arbitrator and/or mediator for over 70 civil actions. In addition to his law practice, Basil has been retained as an expert witness in over 70 legal malpractice, legal ethics, and real estate civil actions. Among his various honors, he is proud to have been selected as a Northern California Super Lawyer, AV rated since 1986, and listed in the National Bar Register of Pre-Eminent Attorneys since 1996. He is highly sought after as a speaker on legal ethics and malpractice, and has appeared on KGO-TV, KQED Radio, KALX Radio and KYA Radio. He has made more than a dozen presentations to various Bar Associations on the Prevention of Legal Malpractice in Civil Litigation. He has served as an instructor in trial advocacy at U.C. Hastings and taught civil procedure and corporations at Dominican University. He is the current President of the UC Hastings Foundation Board of Trustees. A graduate of UC Hastings College of the Law and U.C. Berkeley, Basil lives with his wife, Karen, a real estate agent, in Tiburon, California.
